Women and the Future of Magazine Media

I recently had the opportunity to attend a meeting in Nashville that blew me away. It was for the newly formed Women in Publishing (WIP) Summit Advisory Board.

The nine women in attendance are highly accomplished, experienced leaders in niche publishing. The great ideas were flowing! We were there to develop programming for a brand new, one-day Summit prior to the Super Niche conference in March 2019.

Fast Fact*: Women make up half of the workforce and only 25% hold leadership positions in management.

The WIP Advisory Board members have worked in the trenches, managed departments, and now strategically (and very successfully) move their media companies forward.

We discussed the need for Summit attendees to hear more about a myriad of hot topics in the industry–from critical career management areas such as work-life balance, experience development, pay gaps, workplace issues and more. We also addressed entrepreneurial vs big company challenges, hiring best practices, retention, and workplace policies. The program will also have a laser focus on content marketing and revenue-generating strategies.

Finally, we’re also exploring a mentorship program, so young talent can connect with publishing leaders and role models for expertise, advice and next steps. We want to connect women who are implementing innovative ideas and disrupting the status quo of magazine media!

Who Should Attend:

Media Leaders and Managers committed to publishing and ready to further their career and company, as well as Rising Stars and Staffers looking for connections, advice and a career plan.

Women in Sales, Events, Audience Development, Marketing, Editorial, Design and Production, Human Resources, Financial Support, Digital Programs, Social Media should also attend.

We’re excited about the Summit in March 2019 and attendees are already signing up. Join us for this powerful, one-day, Women in Publishing Summit and get inspired and connected to publishing execs like yourself.

P.S. This Summit encourages male participation too. If you work alongside women in media, your voice is needed in these conversations to further the future of publishing!
